Default Call to the Hipsters - need places to stay

Hi all,

While we're traveling in May and June for our cross-country eco-video series for kids about renewable energy and sustainable living, we're hoping to save money by staying with friends (new and old!). This is one important way we can keep the costs of the trip affordable, and so much more fun than staying in boring hotels. I was hoping that fellow Hipsters would be willing to host our family of 4 if we come through your area. Here's a list of places we're staying overnight that we still need a place to stay:

NYC, May 4
Jackson Mississippi, May 12
New Orleans, May 13 & 14
Baton Rouge, May 15
Lubbock Texas, May 18
Santa Fe New Mexico, May 19
Flagstaff Arizona, May 21
Grand Canyon Arizona, May 24
St. George Nevada, May 25
Las Vegas, May 26
Grant's Pass Oregon, June 6 & 7
Roseburg Oregon, June 8
Portland Oregon, June 9 & 10
Lincoln Nebraska, June 17
Des Moines Iowa, June 18
Youngstown Ohio, June 24
Niagara Falls. June 25

If you or someone you know would be willing to help support our project by hosting us for a night, that would be so helpful to us in making this project happen! My email is OurRenewableNation@gmail.com.

Here is a brief description of our project: in May/June our family will be crossing the U.S. in our vegetable-oil powered VW Beetle to film an eco-video series for kids about renewable energy and sustainable living. We're planning to distribute our video series free to schools nationally, with the mission of inspiring and empowering kids to create a renewable and sustainable future. Our nationally award-winning eco-videos, starring our 9-year-old son Carrick, have been seen by over 200,000 people, and our cross-country eco-video series is our attempt to bring the message of sustainability to a much larger audience. Kids need to see what a sustainable future can look like, and they need to hear it from someone their own age! To find out more about our video project, you can visit our website at www.OurRenewableNation.org. In recent project news, Carrick is being nominated for a Presidential Environmental Youth Award (a great honor!) and we've been invited to show our videos at the Environmental Film Festival at Yale University in April. We have also been asked by the Sierra Club to use one of our videos in their national campaign on home energy efficiency and conservation. Momentum continues to build as we get closer to our departure in the beginning of May!

Thanks for your help!

I know our hipsters will come through for you Colin. Rob and I are looking forward to hosting your family at our home in Chico, CA and to celebrate Carricks's birthday. Yee-haw! It's going to be a great time. And, I'm looking forward to trying some new vegetarian recipes!
